Keanu Reeves Rescues Kate Beckinsale from Wardrobe Malfunction at Cannes Film Festival
Renowned actress Kate Beckinsale recently shared a heartwarming incident from her past, revealing how Hollywood star Keanu Reeves came to her aid and saved her from a potential wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Reflecting on the moment, Beckinsale expressed her gratitude for Reeves and actor Robert Sean Leonard, referring to them as “absolute legends.”
Recalling the event that took place in 1993 during the premiere of her debut movie “Much Ado About Nothing,” the 49-year-old actress took to Instagram to share a throwback photo. The picture captured Beckinsale on the Cannes red carpet alongside Reeves, Leonard, and another co-star, Denzel Washington.
Beckinsale narrated the incident, disclosing that she had purchased a bodysuit from the Sock Shop at the airport. However, while driving to the premiere with Denzel and Pauletta Washington, the poppers in the bodysuit’s crotch unexpectedly opened, causing it to flip up like a roller blind. Sensing the awkwardness of the situation, Beckinsale decided against adjusting her attire in the back of the car with her fellow passengers.
In her moment of panic, the actress discreetly confided in Reeves and Leonard about the unfortunate mishap. “In this picture, I am holding the front gusset down, and the two of them are holding the back gusset. Absolute legends who may not even have fully understood the physics of what was happening or even heard the word ‘gusset’ before, but both jumped in to save me, no questions asked,” Beckinsale expressed.
The actress’s heartfelt post comes shortly after her recent appearance at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where she graced the red carpet and attended the premiere of “The Pot-au-Feu,” starring Juliette Binoche. The incident serves as a testament to the camaraderie and support among Hollywood’s elite, highlighting the compassionate nature of stars like Keanu Reeves and Robert Sean Leonard.
